The TRUE story behind KOMA UNWIND

When Bebida Beverage Company was purchased by Brian Weber in April of 2009, the Company had only a couple items in production and development. As KOMA was initially a name the former owners were going to use for an Energy Drink , Brian and the staff thought the word KOMA was just a little too ‘anti –energy’ and heading in the wrong direction as a brand name. After a few weeks and a subsequent conversation with an affiliate of the former owner, Brian Was made aware the origin of KOMA.

KOMA hails from the nickname of one of the most famous mixed martial artists who practiced and taught his art to thousands including former American Presidents in the early 1900′s. This nickname was “Conde KOMA” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuyo_Maeda ) As Brian and staff read more about this fascinating person, this became the origin of a brand in Bebida Beverage Company. The discovery that was made turns out not only was “Conde Koma” an extreme fighter with high energy, but also a master of the balance between Mind, Body and Soul.

Several days later and an out of town trip produced the desire for Brian to move forward into the relaxation category. Brian called for an office meeting /open discussion with staff and family. Brian initiated the meeting with his vision for the addition of a Relaxation beverage as he predicted the category and its growth were inevitable. After the floor was open for input, a mention that our existing brand KOMA was on the table. Several felt it may be to Nichey of a name as most would only relate it towards a comatose state. The second question asked was what do people want when they are finished for the day? The response from several was to simply UNWIND!

The next five minutes was pure excitement……. KOMA UNWIND was born!
